Buy Ugly House

There are plenty of advertisements in urban areas of people who are looking to buy ugly house. It does raise a few questions- like why would someone offer to buy ugly house?

When someone is in the market of selling a home, they go the conventional route of listing the house with a real estate agent. Some of the more adventurous people may try to do a for sale by owner (fsbo), trying to save the money they would have to give up to realtor commissions. Buyers go the conventional route and get with a realtor to show them homes they are interested in. This is where the buy ugly house advertisers begin to work.

See, most buyers do not want an ugly home. They do not want a house in a bad neighborhood and they do not want a house they have to renovate. Most buyers even need have a house staged for them to imagine themselves in it. So, an ugly home stays on the market unpurchased.

Buy ugly house investors try to get these slow moving homes for cheap by offering quick cash. They often intend to use them as rentals or rent to owns. Some may look to flip them or tear them down for a development. Regardless, the investors get a large quantity of real estate cheap by buying what is essentially distressed property. It is just easier to advertise being a buyer of ugly houses rather than saying they buy distressed properties.

These investors can also be a boon for sellers of ugly homes. When a house sits on the market too long it just makes matters worse. People see how long it has been listed with no buyer they automatically dismiss it as not worth seeing. This can drive down the sales price even more. Someone who is looking to buy ugly house has the cash to close and if the property is not listed or expires, the realtor commission does not have to be paid.

Buy ugly house investors are also good people to get hold if one acquires a home they need to unload. Maybe a home they received from an inheritance or find they are the executor of someone’s will or estate. Paying taxes, mortgage, utilities, maintenance etc. can be expensive if one is not living in the home. The problems get compounded if one lives far from the home they own. Keeping it up and secure is hard. Sometimes it is easier to unload (faster than listing with a realtor), even under market value, just to be relieved of the burden while gaining some cash.
